The
deadly methyl isocyanate leak from the Dow chemical factory in Bhopal had left
thousands of people dead in its wake. Decades later, although much of the
factory has been cleaned of its chemical waste, people are still suffering as several
children are born with deformities and mental retardation. The Indian
government has not been very supportive to the cause, with paltry compensations
and little medical aid to the still struggling parents of children with special
needs. The sufferers bang on all doors for the redressal of their grievances
but it is almost as if no one is interested in their suffering.
